Rainbow and Cloud Nails

I bought a blue Miss Sporty polish the other day that made me think of blue skies and made me want to create a mani which included clouds and blue skies. So here is my rainbow mani with blue skies.

Rainbow Nails

For this mani you will need:
  • blue nail polish
  • white nail polish
  • selection of coloured polishes
  • dotting tool
  • small nail art brush

Start by painting your nails with the blue polish. I left the ring finger for the rainbow.
I got a little too into this mani and forgot to take photos for the next few steps.
Next paint your designated rainbow nail with white polish.
I started my rainbow with the middle colour so it would be easier to work out how thick each line needed to be.
Keep adding more colours to your rainbow nail, if you want a neater edge to each colour use nail art tape as a guide but as a mentioned before, I got a little too into this mani and didn't have time to find my tape so I painted each colour freehand.
For the clouds on the blue nails you'll need your white polish and a dotting tool. Using your dotting tool place a white dot on your nail.
To turn the dots into clouds, add smaller dots to the side of the first dots. Make some clouds with 2 dots and some with 3 so it doesn't look too uniformed.
There we have it! Rainbow and sky nails! There's no rainbows without rain and there's no rain without clouds.
I love the sky nails, I think they look great, it's a really nice blue!

The polishes I used in this mani are:
  • Red - Barry M - Passion Fruit
  • Orange - Boots 17 Lasting Fix - Tropical Island
  • Yellow - Boots 17 Fast Finish - Go Go
  • Green - Barry M - Neon Green
  • Blue - Boots Colour Carnival by Seventeen - Light Blue
  • Indigo - Models Own Artstix - Betty Blue
  • Violet - Sinful Colours - Let's Talk
  • Blue sky - Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours
  • Clouds - Boots Natural Collection - Nail Tip Whitener

Ice Cream Nails (with chocolate sauce and sprinkles)

Using a few of my new Miss Sporty nail polishes and some randoms from my collection I've come up with this ice cream nails. Ice cream with chocolate sauce and sprinkles, yum!

Ice Cream Nails

For this mani you will need:

  • one or more pastel coloured polish
  • a dark brown polish
  • white polish
  • a dotting tool
  • a small brush

Start with your pastel polish/polishes and paint all your nails. I used 5 colours, so one for each nail, and as usual I used two coats of polish as that's my personal preference.

When all the polish has completely dried it's time to add the chocolate sauce to your ice cream! To do this you will need your dotting tool. Dot the brown polish a third of the way down your nail and pull it towards the tip, so that it looks like dripping chocolate.

Add one or two more chocolate drips to the first one, I think things look better in odd numbers so I went with three drips on most nails, but if you can only fit two on then two it is!

Then fill in the gaps between the drips on your tip of your nail with more chocolate sauce (brown polish)

When all the brown polish has dried it's time to add the sprinkles, to do this you will need your white nail polish and a small brush. Using the small brush paint little white lines randomly on the brown polish.

Using your pastel polishes and the small brush again, paint over the white lines to turn them into colourful sprinkles.

And there you have it, ice cream with chocolate sauce and sprinkles on your nails! How I wish I had of bowl of ice cream right now!

The polishes used in this mani were:

  • Model's Own - Strawberry Tart
  • Model's Own Artstix - Lilac Dream
  • Barry M - Greenberry
  • Barry M - Chocolate Brown
  • Boots Natural Collection - Nail Tip Whitener
  • The yellow and blue are Miss Sporty polishes
I hope you enjoy recreating this mani.

Nail Polish Haul

I haven't bought myself any new nail polish for months! My last nail polish purchase was a gift for someone else! I've been having new polish withdrawal! So today, I went for it, I went for it a little too much, but I've treated myself to a big bunch of new polish!

I bought, 5 of the new Models Own chrome polishes, 4 Miss Sporty colours and two MoYou stamping nail art sets. I've been wanting to grab the chrome polishes since they first came out and they were my main reason for polish shopping today! The Miss Sporty polishes were just a random purchase cause I like the colours and they were on offer at 2 for £3. My last polish purchase was a MoYou stamping nail art set for my friend for her birthday and since then I've been wanting to get one for myself!

In the MoYou stamping set you get 3 shades of MoYou nail lacquer, White Knight, Black Knight and Deep Ocean in the "The Pro" set and White Knight, Cool Pool and Sweet Lips in the "Princess" set. You also get 2 stamping plates, a stamp and a scraper.

The Models Own chrome colours I bought are Gold, Rose, Cerise, Mauve and Blue. I love them so much already! They're gorgeous and I can't wait to create some manis with them! They look great with only one layer of polish and they dry really quickly! They're so shiny and beautiful.

The Miss Sporty polishes don't have their own cool polish names unfortunately. I bought a purple a green a blue and a yellow. I just liked the colours and for £1.50 they were hard to resist. They're really nice polishes but they're not the easiest to apply. They're quite streaky even with 2/3 coats. I'm sure I'll find a use for them though.

So there we have it, everything I bought today, I can't wait to play with it all! Time to get creative!
